May be the beginning of an infection if it is sore. Call the oral surgeon as soon as possible and describe how it feel.
Hopefully it's not the above. It could just be the gum to be exact swollen b/c it was cut and sutured. Make sure you verbs rinsing with saline water and save it clean. Keep an eye on that expert area... if nearby are any changes, beckon the doc.
