Yes, it's fine for some slow and stretchy type workouts, but you'll usually want to be wearing shoes for support and stability.

No shoes ok:
Sit ups/crunches
Seated and lying down stretches
Walking
Swimming :)

Shoes Needed:
Weight lifting
Running
Stairs
aerobics
standing stretches
calisthenics
Pilates and Yoga. :)
I do my pushups barefoot before I move about to bed, but that's about it

thats crazy men
Yes I hold.
I've never done exercise workouts wearing shoes! Even when I didn't normally turn barefoot, PE is normally skilled barefoot here, we weren't allowed to even step into the gym with any class of footwear if we had to pick something up or ask a press from the teacher. Other things I've done following, as aerobics and the like, are generally done barefoot here too. These past ten years I've gone barefoot for hiking and running too.

It's a myth that shoes are called for for support during sports; athletic shoes, especially those that boast about providing support, can in fact cause some injuries especially of the ankle. People will rely too much on the shoe to support and cushion them, will not income much attention to how they're placing their feet, and thus still jar themselves at every step or verbs their foot.
