Has anyone gone through bariatric surgery and got their insurance to pay for it?

If you have had weight loss surgery and got insurance to help pay on it, I was curious what the steps are that one has to go trough in order to get their insuracne to cover it. I know there is a process, I just don't know what it is.

I have a friend who just recently did & her insurance paid for it cause it was highly advised by the doctor for her to get the procedure done. Nothing she did to lose weight (doc recommended or not) was working cause it was partially genetic & at the same time wreaking havoc on her kidneys & liver in the process. I'd talk to your doctor & if they feel that it's needed then you can mostly likely get it covered by insurance. If you're not really that overweight & are just doing it for cosmetic reasons then no insurance will cover it at all regardless of what you do. Most cosmetic-related surgeries are uninsurable unless ordered by a doctor because it was deemed necessary. BUT I don't know what your case is so I couldn't exactly tell you.either way, I'd talk to your doctor about it. Good luck =o)
