Answers:    I have tried fairly a few different brands of OTC pills over the years but stopped once I learned of their hurtful effect of the various stimulants used (see Dr. Weil's article tabled below under source).

A improved and cheaper option to control hunger, is to guzzle 5 small meals throughout the daytime. An apple and 6 almonds can really take the point off. Also, you can embezzle a fiber supplement (capsule or powder) 30 minutes before every dinnertime. I find it keeps me from overeating during the buffet and keeps me thrilled for hours afterwards.
