Does rice cereal hold to be the first solid food?

I've done alot of reading and it seems the rice cereal is a moment ago the norm, do I have to grant him this...I know it provides iron but he is on formula now...so could I step straight to veggies then fruit? Would this be easier on his digestion and lend a hand avoid constipation from the rice?

Answers:    The rice is given first because it is the least probable to cause allergies. I don't believe that it would be a problem to skip the rice cereal, but just introduce the fruits and vegetables slowly, offering in recent times one new item for several days to be sure your child won't enjoy a reaction (and if he / she does, you can pinpoint what cause it).
rice cereal is usually chosen as the first solid food because
1. it's less plausible to trigger an allergic reaction than plentiful other foods
2. most babies seem to find it well digestible

if u want to try a different food first, talk to ur doctor. within are certain foods, veggies, and fruits that should not be given to infants because they contain substances that babies cannot process, or because babies' immune systems are not all the same developed enough for that food to be risk-free.
the reason that rice cereal is first solid food is it is most unlikely to grounds allergic reaction. After a week, you can intro another unknown food--applesauce is great b/c it goes so resourcefully mixed with the cereal, but MD's usually recommend that you intro adjectives the cereals first, afterwards fruits and veggies. remember, intro one new food at a time, roughly speaking 1 week apart, that way if an allergy appears you will know what food cause it.
