Is anyone allergic to red dye? My daughter have hives and?

My 1 year old daughter have hives all over her body. I took her to the doctor who said it is definately an allergic recoil. We have not have any food that she hasn't eaten heaps, many times since. We haven't changed any lotions, soaps or detergents. I haven't given her any new tablets. The only piece I can think of is that I run out of the grape flavored tylenol I usually give her and my Dr. give me another brand which is Cherry flavored and has red dye surrounded by it. She has taken drug with red dye within it before, but this is the just thing I can have an idea that of. Is anyone else allergic to red dye? What symptoms did you have when exposed? How frequent times did you take it since getting a reaction?

Answer:
I am not allergic, nor hold I known anybody who is; however, some of the red dyes are insect-derived, and the FDA is considering requiring products next to those red dyes to be labeled for fear of allergies.

From the above article, "The FDA say that its main concern over the ingredient is for form and safety reason. Allergy sufferers unwittingly consuming products containing the coloring have be known to come out surrounded by rashes, hives and even succumb to anaphylaxis attacks."

It's possible she would be allergic to one red dye and not another.

Here is another (more scientific) article on the plausible offending dye, aka carmine:

And here is another article:
http://www.pslgroup.com/dg/42e7a.htm...

which states:

"Physicians often confirm the results of allergy skin test through a radioallergosorbent test (RAST) ... However, [the doctor] could not administer a RAST for cochineal extract because no such examination has be developed for the additive. Instead, he took an unusual step -- one which have never been taken previously with cochineal extract or carmine. [He] ... conducted a Prausnitz-Kustner (P-K) interview to confirm that his patient carried cochineal antibodies and be, indeed, allergic to the food dye."
well if you enjoy a allergic reaction to anything it lone takes once to show up.I suggest you run see an allergist and have her tested it will narrate you all the things she is allergies to,even if it is basically one thing. There are ways they can do it one is a blood check the other is on the back both ways are not hurting. My Son has lots of allergies and even more we have no clue of until he was tested. We in a minute have a print our of adjectives the things he is alergic to.
I am when red dye is on my skin. One time I got my facade painted with a red heart, and it give me a rash. There be a heart on my cheek for weeks. I haven't noticed a antipathy when i ingest anything with red dye tho, solely topically. I just avoid it, which is effortless for me to do.
