Our son gets cold sores surrounded by his mouth more than normal and we regularly use and buy "Campho-phenique" Cold Sore Treatment from Wal Mart for about $4. I own seen other newer cold sore products "Abreva" selling at Costco that costs much more $10-$15 for a small tube that supposely work faster. I don't know the label of the prescription medicine but our dentist wrote the prescription and we will sometimes use it as a ending line of defense bec when our son get some teeth pulled, we gnawed on his gums and oral cavity when his mouth was still numb.
The best point I come up with every time is saline water. Sometimes I merely put plane salt on them. It burns similar to heck but the pain go away and dries the cold sore in lately a day or two
Try a moment or two vinegar. It may stink, but vinegar is a natural remedy to dry it out.

There is a product called Carmex that works rather well for me, applying it a few times a daylight when I start getting a cold sore. The cold sore goes away surrounded by 1 to 2 days. If you haven't tried it yet, you might want to check it out.
Apply a drizzly and cold tea bag for like peas in a pod time period. The tea have tannic acid which have an antiviral effect. A warm tea case applied for 20-30 minutes several times a day should work to remove the cold sore.
