Any suggestions for recovery from colon removal surgery??
Answer:
I have not had that surgery but have had many surgeries (32 to date). Lexapro has helped (it is a mild upper) - I found talking with a psychiatrists not very helpful. He was on a fishing expedition as to the reason for my pain - from my desire to be in pain (there is a major lawsuit in the works) to something that took place in my crib. Libido was not my problem but performance from numerous vascular surgery did hurt my satisfaction. I could not not handle codeine related pain killers or patches. Even acupuncture to some horrible knee pains (botch knee surgeries) could not help.
For me morphine pills (under a professionals care) has had dramatic benefits.
Sorry for the long windiness about me, but there is help for your friend - it is just searching out what does work. There are as I mention pain management, medication, acupuncture, mental therapy, chiropractic help, physical re-hab & most important a good carring ear (that was my wife & kids). There are many choices and every doctor you see will have their own rational (my list would bring out laughter to most people). Just remember some medications or other help can make the conditions worst - (I had medication prescribed that brought on sucidal feelings). Continue to be a friend even when your friend sounds like a broken record (venting of pain helps). There is sunshine but searching what works for one is a long hoe. It took me several years of seeing many doctors on various procedures to get to a satisfactory place. Very frustrating to seek help - find none - and repeating this many times. God Bless
