Any surgeons (esp. intestinal) please aid?

My mother has a blockage surrounded by her colon. CT was incompetent to determine the exact nature, and an attempted colonoscopy be unsuccesful. She needs surgery, but is extremely opposed because her own mother (at the age of 85; my mother is with the sole purpose 73) died following a similiar surgery. My mother is getting weaker by the day, as she is merely able to devour small amounts of soft or liquid food. She is also fearful of possibly have a colostomy bag; as she have always be somewhat vain and was highly attractive and active for her age. Please, what can I report to her that would reassure her into getting the treatment she needs.

Answer:
Medicine and surgery own taken a big turn for the better since your grandmother's surgery. Even if she has to hold a colostomy, chances are it could be reversed once her colon have had time to restore to health. She needs to do what the doctor recommend. She is only going to get hold of worse if it's not taken care of. It's time to put "vanity" aside. She will be lately as attractive and active if she did enjoy to have a colostomy. Nobody have to know but her and her family. The doctors will rob excellent care of her. You cannot dawdle too long on things of this nature as the colon will start to die and after she will REALLY have a big problem on her hand. I would take the surgery over departure ANY day. It's done routinely and is as safe and sound as any surgery. Good luck...you and your mother will be in my thoughts.
surgery have come along way! what folks died of backbone then, usually will be a moment ago fine today!

sometimes regardless, a patient will necessitate a colostomy bag-especially during recovery of the bowel. more commonly than not, a colostomy bag is singular temporary.

you requirement to explain to your mother that without the surgery she will die and that she have a better chance of living longer provided she opt for surgery.

my grandfather in directive who is 89 this year just be able to win rid of his colostomy bag-it took less than 2 years in the past the doctors decided his bowel be healed.

blockage could propose a twisted bowel. there is no function why she should opt for suffering a slow death.

recount her the truth. tell her it will be okay!
She will die in need surgery. I know for many colostomy seem terrible. The probability of a colostomy being perminate is increasing by the morning. This is a big deal and you should name a mental health professional immediatly. Get the unharmed family together and convey her you are not prepared for her to die and that this surgery is very adjectives and she will live a very busy life afterward. There is no illusion way to convince her, capture a professional in in attendance.
