Swollen Ankle?
Answer:
Things you can ask yourself: Any redness? Do you own a temp? Have you injured it? Have a pulse above and below the injury? Swelling can mean profoundly of things, from the benign such as a sprain, to the serious, such as a blood clot. Prednisone can cause the sudden destruction of a bone or joint (usually the hip or jaw) and lowers your resistance to box infection, so I would have the ankle evaluated. In the meantime, Rest it, Ice it, Wrap it, and Elevated it. Hope you touch better soon. If you ever need a express check of symptoms you are having, be in motion to WebMD. Click on "Check Your Symptoms". It can be a huge help. Don't agree to it scare you, simply be realistic. Best of luck!
Very key to stay on the Prednisone. I don't know if it's causing the swelling (it usually is more resembling in the frontage or, if it's the ankle, it's usually both). My guess is your arthritis is acting up. Do you have headache? Is the ankle red, or hot to touch? You're right to call the Dr. right away. But I would stay on the Prednisone for very soon.
Good luck!
PS: What are you on the Prednisone for? Asthma? Arthritis?
Could be your OA, but is it in both ankles or freshly in one - and is your calf swollen too? Is it remarkably painful? If not, try pushing a finger on it for roughly 10 seconds and agree to go... is near a pit where your finger be? This is usually an indication of fluid and you'll have to consider (especially if its on basically the one side) that you might have a DVT (a clot). Have a be aware of up your calf... is it a little tender? If yes is the answer to any of this afterwards I'd call jump to emergency... and try not to move around too much (get someone to drive you). The main concern is a clot breaking bad and going to your lung.
This is probably the only serious urgent differenetial diagnosis you should be concerned nearly. Otherwise, I'm sure you can wait to see the doctor tomorrow.
