Foot misery near counterweight good posture, on orb of foot beneath little toe?

For almost a week now I've experienced foot dull pain, only occuring next to weight-bearing (and causing me to walk with difficulty!). It hurts at the ball of the foot beneath the little toe, sometimes the pain spreads across the bubble or down the outside of the foot. There's no swelling and its not tender, and I've had no significant tweaking to physical activity. The nurse at a walk-in crux could only suggest that it be 'general foot pain' and suggested ibuprofen. Any planning as to what it might, more specifically, be - and how to treat it?
Now I'm also experiencing some pain at the ankle, possibly within the tendon that runs to the big toe - is this possibly basically a subsequent strain injury, as I've been walking/limping funny to clutch the pressure off the other side of my foot?
Any relief would be greatly appreciated.
