Is ECT right for me?
Answer:
Hi. I had ECT twice and I swear by it. It does not basis all the horrible things that you enjoy heard. It save my life.
First, you goto the hospital contained by the morning and are put to sleep. The doctors also give you a muscle relaxant so that you are not injured during the actual shock.
They apply a short shock to (usually) the right side of your manager. Then its over.
It takes longer to put you to sleep after the actual treatment.
IN the US, you usually go for treatment Monday, Wednesday and Friday, for 8-12 sessions.
I have 12 sessions. I had a headache and a stomache when I woke up. I took a powernap later that afternoon and woke up fine. I couldn't do anything for the undamaged day after the treatment, so going to work is out of the grill. But if you take a powernap, you will be fine.
I never had any memory loss. Someone I know have temporary memory loss, but it come back after the treatments.
People are stuck on the out-of-date pictures of what it used to be like. It's immensely different today. And it is very powerful. I would do it again to help me surrounded by a heartbeat.
It can erase your memory completely ...do your research first you are the only one who can do what is right for you. Just brand name an informed decision base on your knowledge, not a bunch of strangers
I haven't have ECT but I've had a look at some of the medical literature. It is not as unsafe and barbaric as oodles people chew over. In fact, it have proven results with some inhabitants with core depression and bipolar.
It will impair your memory temporarily, but this should return to normal after a few weeks.
I cogitate if you're at the end of your rope and you've run out of other option, it is certainly worth considering.
i enjoy assisted with ect treatements surrounded by a large hospital , and enjoy seen more positive results than cynical results. it is usually effective if adjectives else fails.
