Any side effects from ECT treatment? Good or bad..?

Recently a member of my family had ECT done. She's experience some side effects. I am wondering what real people, who have had ECT, have experienced. Please only respond if you've had ECT or now someone who has. Thank you.

I myself have not had ECT, but i have seen many people shortly after having this treatment.
The initial side effect i've noticed is short term memory loss.
ECT is medically induced seizures, using electricity. From what i've seen it's hit or miss. With some people it's night and day, for others it doesn't seem to do anything. Like any therapy it has risks and benefits, the question is, does the perceived benefit outweight the risks?
