Why don't we cough when we are sleeping?

Sure sure i know how foolish this sounds, but seriously why don't we cough when we are sleeping? I mean aren't our neck still sore even when we are dreaming?

You do cough when your sleeping. It's like snoring. You do it, but you only just don't wake yourself up.
i never done that earlier, when a person coughs, he or she will be awake, benevolent of like debut your eyes in the morning
You do cough when sleeping ! Haven't you ever woke your self up from coughing unadulterated bad beside a cold? well i hold! And sometimes you get choked on your own saliva to and that make you cough or you would choke to death !! Coughing is a reflex when you are asleep !!
yes we do cough contained by our sleep.
When attacked by severe allergies, I have indeed be awakened by sudden, violent coughing fits.

My synopsis is that such reflexes are suppressed during sleep. You probably do occasionally cough, but you don't stir up enough to realize it or remember...
