Penicillin allergy?
(1) I hold had these symptoms: sinus headache (top of director, behind eyes, cheekbones) from saturday evening to tuesday afternoon, low category fever (between 100 and 102) that come down with ibuprofen but go back up when the tablets wore off for 3 days, scratchy throat, swollen and sore lymph nodes for days gone by two days, and mild sore throat and ear ache.
My doctor said it be a sinus infection and prescribed me azithromycin, 500mg for 3 days. I have have many sinus infections, but never one that give me this high of a hallucination or made my lymph nodes swell like this. Any other thinking on what this might be?
(2) This morning I noticed little red dots that looked rash-like across my chest. It have since spread to my shoulders and face and is starting to spread to my collar.
Is this an allergic reaction to the medication? I have taken penicillin-based meds for over 15 years and enjoy never had a recoil before. Any accepted wisdom?
Answer:
hon, i am sure that there are society on this site would like to relief you out. BUT there so much the we, Health2009.com citizens, can do. Can we diagnose what's wrong? Nope. Can we hope you feel better and hope that its not an allergic allergic reaction? Yes.
I know this may sound jarring but I say how it is when I see/read/hear something: Use adjectives sense; GO TO THE DOCTOR AGAIN! You may be allergic to penicillin (I have a unnatural reaction to Amoxicillin 875 mg. but I am fine if I appropriate the Amoxicilling 500 mg.)
I would stop taking the medication immediately and step back to your doctor and explain the symptoms to him again. Ask him to a CT Scan. It is a picture of your guide and will show a sinus infection immediately. To me some of the symptoms nouns like sinus infection but the soar throat, swollen, lymph nodes etc do not.
