Before the procedure, you will sign a consent. You will be asked to wear a hospital gown, remove all jewelries, dentures, and any metallic objects you hold.Yo may be required to drink more fluids before the scan.

You will recline down on a table, then they inject an isotope into your capillary. The needle prick unsurprisingly will be a little bit aching but you will not feel the injection of the isotopes afterwards. (An intravenous cannula may be placed to inject the isotope). A few minutes will be allotted to allow the isotopes to travel on your bloodstreams.

The scan will be started short after. Many similes will be captured by a special camera while you are lying still as the scan goes on. You will not consistency anything discomforting during the scanning.
The doctor usually reviews the similes taken and sometimes additional "shots" will be required after the session. If spare isotope will be required,it will be injected in the intravenous cannula that have been placed.

The entire scan takes more or less 30 minutes to one hour. The images capture will be analyzed after the scan which would include evaluation of the size, position, shape, and function of the kidneys.

When scanning is done, the intravenous cannula placed will be removed. There is no reclamation time required though you may be asked to stay for a few minutes then you will allowed to jump home. An appointment may be given if your scan requires a follow up. You will also be advised to drink plenty of fluids for few days and urinate frequently for the rest of the morning to facilitate excretion of the radioactive material from your body.

This is how you will look similar to while lying down:

they are going to check how your kidneys are functioning and look for stones.they might inject you with dye similar to when they do an ivp and then you enjoy either a series of x-rays done several minutes apart,or a cat scan. how long depends on what they are looking for,but shouldnt be too long.depends on how busy they are,you know how that go...
