Can discontinuing long-term antibiotic use exact diarrhea?

I've often hear that taking antibiotics longterm can CAUSE diarrhea (due to the killing of both the desperate and good bacteria). But can stopping antibiotics cold-turkey raison d`¨ētre diarrhea as well?

My cat have been on doxycycline for roughly speaking 20 months and we just stopped it second week. He was not taking probiotics. 3-4 days after discontinuing it, he developed some mean diarrhea.

At the same time though, we added a modern medication (Cyclosporine) which may have a side effect of diarrhea, however it is not a adjectives side effect.

I'm really not sure what exactly caused the diarrhea. Could it own been discontinuing doxycycline? Thanks for the comfort!

Could be. Antibiotics killed past its sell-by date the normal flora surrounded by the gut. Now bacteria are starting to repopulate his gut and could be that it's not within a way that agrees next to him. Probiotics might help, might not. I've never looked into whether here is any objective facts supporting the use of probiotics. I mean contained by theory they nouns good, I only don't know if they can get down into the gut alive and whether or not they will in truth do anything when they are having to compete beside the bacteria already at hand.

Could also be cyclosporine. Does that to humans sometimes, so I would assume it can do it to cats too.

As long as he doesn't get feeling thirst (don't know how bad the diarrhea is), I'd speak to give him a few days to see if it resolves on its own. If he is losing seriously of water and getting dry, you need to send for your vet.
Possibly. If you've really adapted to it and it's ecome a part of your body, it can incentive some changes to transpire when you stop.
