What are lipnoids?

Such word sounds more of a colloquial term. It is not really a quantifiable term but on how it is used it seem to mean some sort of an infection similar to an abscess. That is: at hand is skin breakdown then some pus formation mixed up near blood comes up as an infection signs.
Perhaps there are more consequence that is beyond my skill.
