What is the difference between a syn-pneumonic and para-pneumonic effusion?
Honestly, never used synpneumonic, always used parapneumonic to describe an effusion that you be blaming on a concurrent pneumonia. Looking in Dorland's medical dictionary, I'm not sure within is a real clinical difference between the two. Having said that, the prefixes para- and syn- aren't exactly synonyms surrounded by general use.
