you're contained by the UK right?

I don't know about GCSE's needed - I don't think you have to hold certain grades, buts it worth considering that if you weren't to have good grades you might struggle to carry the grades required for A level/IB. In which case you might want to think about doing a Bachelors of Medical Sciences point first (3 years) or a similar subject allied to medicine - pharmacology, physiology etc. These in the most part own lower Alevel requirements. Most of these are three years too, and then transferring across to medicine.

The nature of the conviction go some way to deciding how long it is held on record for - heaps are five years I think. At med school you have every twelve months CRB (criminial records bureau) checks - so it'd be impossible to cover up. If you have a parole officer or any social work input they would be able to recommend you on this. I don't necessarily think that this would mean you could never be a doctor, but it might be a bit of a hurdle.

It doesn't matter whether you want to be a GP or a hospital doc - you still obligation the same medical degree, most med schools are 5/6 years (in the UK) or 4 if you are a graduate (if you did another scope allied to medicine first).

After graduation you enter the Foundation Programme - which is made up of Foundation Year 1 and Foundation Year 2. These usually comprise of six attachments - four months each, covering all sorts of medical and surgical specialties. After graduation you own provisional registration with the General Medical Council, then after the first foundation year you are fully registered. After foundation year 2, you make your mind up just about speciality/GP. You then enter into a training programme for your speciality - anywhere from four years (ish) upwards.
Wow, your criminal record is not favoring you. It will be tough to even get into college near that, not to mention medical school, and internship, and even a job for that matter. I am NOT trying to be imply here or to put you down but realisticly a criminal record is very, very, deeply bad when applying for anything in the real world. Especailly illustrious potentinal and rewarding jobs such as doctors, scientists, lawyers, dentists, CEO, etc. You need to shift to 4 years of college (minimum) then 4 years of medical school then another 3 years of residency to become a genreal practionor next youc an choose if you want to work in a hospital, clinic, or private practice.
