Usmle cross-examine for those who are done next to the steps!!?

hello ,
My husband is a FMG and has a greencard. He got an 88% [ first attempt] on step 1 . step 2 cs he passed in his first attempt and he a short time ago got his step 2 ck score today and it is 75% [same thing surrounded by his first attempt]. he has got a research position at UPMC [PA] for a year that is not one and only research work but they said he could have hands on experience too!! would he be able to capture a residency in internal or family medicine surrounded by this coming match ? he is planning to take his step 3 by august! he is so depressed about hss step 2 ck mark. so im asking those of you who are done whether it is possible ?
Answers:
Family Medicine is often open to having FMGs surrounded by their residencies. Usually there are far more family medicine spots than US students wanting to specialize contained by family medicine. Internal medicine is a touch harder, but spots are available. UPMC is a pretty prestigious program, so I'm not sure there would be spots available there, but perhaps within the surrounding area.

I'm not sure what your percentages mean, since step score are usually expressed as a number in the 160-280 range, so I can't comment on his competitiveness. Research and clinical experience would certainly relieve his application.

It may also depend on which country he went to medical school in. There is some prejudice against non-western countries that still exists.
