Active ingredients - lifespan?
I have some athlete's foot cream that has been approachable for ages, a couple of years easily I think. The active ingredient is miconazole nitrate.
Does anyone know if that would still be involved or how long it does remain active for after opening?

The shelf life will be a couple of years when stored in a refrigerator. I think yours is olden it. Its not expensive......
Let me put it this way. Would you eat food that's been moved out open and exposed for a couple of years? It's probably not active anymore, and god only know what's growing in there or what the stuff has decomposed into.
Creams/ointments have the expiration date at the crimped end of the tube [ stamped in, not printed on. ]
It is foolish to use anything more than five years old. After that time, the medication is not stable, so you can get too strong. too weak, or an adverse response from breakdown of the med.
