What is e-cap used contained by brain computer interface?

i would like to know what this e-cap chip is made of....
Answers:
EEG (Electroencephalographic) signals was developed, oriented to the latter construction of a brain computer interface which could offer aid and/or rehabilitation therapy to people beside motor and/or communication disabilities. The study of these brain computer interfaces is not new, has around 2 decades of investigation. For the implementation of these systems is vitally needed 3 stages: An EEG signals acquisition, a signal processing stage, so that it is finally possible to extract specific signal features, according to certain stimuli and finally, features are translated into commands that operate a device close to the movement of wheelchairs, prosthesis of amputated members, movement of images or even selection of junk mail to form words in screen.

The basic concepts of eCAP recordings are deduce from the acoustical equivalent of the electrocochleogram. There are, however, indications that under electrical stimulation some of these do not hold, like the unitary response concept (i.e., the principle that every fiber produces the same contribution to the eCAP). Computer modeling have proven to be a valuable tool for gaining insight into the functioning of electrical stimulation.

(1) rapid sequential stimulation of a small group of electrodes, or (2) simultaneously stimulating a small group of electrodes. Such multi-electrode stimulation stimulates a greater number of neurons within a synchronous manner, thereby increasing the amplitude of the extra-cellular voltage fluctuation and facilitating its recording. The electrical stimuli are applied simultaneously (or sequentially at a swift rate) on selected small groups of electrodes while monitoring the evoked compound action potential (ECAP) on a nearby electrode. The presence of an observable ECAP not just validates operation of the implant device at a time when the patient may be comatose or otherwise unable to provide subjective feedback, but also provides a way for the magnitude of the observed ECAP to be record as a function of the amplitude of the applied stimulus. From this data, a safe, efficacious and comfortable threshold level can be obtain which may be used thereafter as the initial setting of the stimulation parameters of the neurostimulation device, or to guide the setting of the stimulation parameters of the neurostimulation device.
